Well, a lot has happened since my last post. Let me see if I can fill you in quickly...
Caleb became an offical "walker" in February, and that put our lives in over-drive.
Just when we thought things were settling in for the year, we had a fire that started on our back porch and spread to our livingroom.
That happened about 2 weeks before the kid's birthdays, so we quickly moved the party to the next best place...McDonalds. Emily turned 7 years old and Caleb celebrated his 1st birthday.
It wasn't long after the birthday pictures came back that we realized our son was beginning to look like (as Jim's called him) a hippy. So, it was off to the barber shop for his first haircut. He chatted it up and didn't even realize what was happening.
Before we knew it, it was Easter. We had a wonderful day at church, and then hunted Easter eggs in Nana and Poppy's backyard.
Mother's Day snuck up on us, but it was a big one! Not only did I get to celebrate my 2nd Mother's Day, but we also go to announce that we are adding another member to our family. We surprised my mom with a picture frame that says "Grandkids." It has 3 picture spots, so we put in a picture of Emily and Caleb, then filled the last one with a note that says "Baby Sharp coming January 2011." It took mom a minute to realize what we were telling her, but she (and the rest of the family) were very excited!
Spring Break was a lot of fun this year. We were able to get in a lot of quality family time (one of the advantages of Jim and I both being teachers). One of our stops was the Houston Rodeo. We went with Misty and John, and Emily and John had a BLAST! Caleb is still a little too young, but next year he will be able to join them on the rides.
We also went to the Aquarium downtown. They have a lot of free activities for kids, so we spent the day watching concerts, playing in the water, and (of course) riding the rides.
Before we knew it, summer had arrived. What an eventful summer we had!!! We took our annual trip to San Antonio, where we visited the Scheer Family, toured the Children's Museum, walked the River Walk, and played at Sea World.
But our excitement didn't end there! In July the Schaber's came to town and we had a big pool party. We had so much fun that we hope to make it an annual event! Emily also got a surprise from Poppy when he bought her a fishing pole and took her to the pond in their subdivision to fish. She caught so many fish...it might ruin it for her the next time she goes and comes up empty! haha!
The summer was definitely fun-filled, and too short! School quickly came back into session, but Emily was very excited to start the 2nd grade. And Caleb started back to preschool, this time for 3 days a week. It took some getting used to, but he LOVES school now. In fact, on most days I don't even get a kiss goodbye...just quick wave that he shoots in my direction as he runs to his friends and toys.
And I think that pretty much gets us caught up. Whew! Hopefully, I will stay up to date and won't have to do this again!
